Yes and No

It’s hard for me to choose. I was never the decisive kind, I went through a phase where I just let life happen to me and I just went along for the ride.

I’m a fan of grabbing every opportunity and saying yes to anything I could possibly fit in my schedule.

Part of it was just my curiosity, but a bigger part of it was not being able to say no.

I brag about being able to easily say no now but it took me a while to be comfortable setting my boundaries.

It’s not wise to be a yes man – to be everyone and everywhere all the time. Surprisingly, it was wiser to say no. Saying no meant prioritizing and respecting the quality of time you spend instead.

I haven’t completely overcome this by the way, I still manage to overbook a day and overwhelm myself with responsibilities and commitments I forget I made. Like today.

But one thing I learned was that to do what you have to do and what you want to do takes practice.

A lot of practice.
